June, the sixth month of the year in the Julian and Gregorian calendars has derived its name from the Latin month of Iunius, named after the ancient Roman goddess Juno. With the beginning of summer, summer solstice typically occurring on June 20 or 21, bringing warmer temperatures, longer days, and increased sunshine, June brings with it a significant shift in weather patterns across the globe. It is also a month of significant weather events, including the onset of hurricane season in the Atlantic, monsoon season in India and Southeast Asia, and wildfire season in the Western United States and Canada.
