The word November originated from the word novem which means “nine” in Latin. This is because, in the original Roman calendar created by Romulus c. 750 BC which started with March (consisting of ten months), November was indeed the ninth month, hence its name. It is now the eleventh and penultimate month of the year in the Julian and Gregorian calendars.
